Learning Chinese
你好 (ni3 hao3), I’ve been dabbling on and off with learning Chinese. I’ve managed to learn a couple of words and can even ask a few simple questions. But, I’ve come to realise that learning Chinese is not something you can just dabble in. It needs commitment.
By way of demonstrating my commitment, I am going to blog about my experiences. I’m starting as a newbie on the ChinesePod course. I’ve read in many places that ChinesePod is only a supplementary resource and isn’t really a course in its own right, but I have also read comments that state quite the opposite. I’m going to find out for myself. I have had a look for local Chinese courses but there are none (that I have found) anywhere near Ipswich so that will have to wait until I move back to London.
There are 164 lessons in the newbie course and I am going to challenge myself to try and get through these in 164 days. This translates into completing the newbie course by the end of August. Many have tried and many have failed. Wish me luck.
