Over the last week I ran a poll over on TwtPoll asking what people thought I should do with the mandarinmonday.com domain. The poll closed yesterday and now that the results are in, it is time to get coding and see what I can make of #MandarinMonday.
It seems as if the majority of people wanted some form of aggregation of web content tagged with the #MandarinMonday hashtag. This could be really interesting. I plan to archive content such as Tweets which opens up several exciting possibilities for parsing their content. For those of you who voted for a blog, don’t worry. I have a couple of ideas up my sleeve on how I can incorporate blogs into the #MandarinMonday.
To get all of this working is going to take a little bit of work, but in the meantime, I’ve included a screenshot of the current working draft of my #MandarinMonday WordPress theme. Feedback and suggestions are welcome in the comments.

Looking good Bill. I’m just going to suggest you use http://blueprintcss.org/ if you’re not already. Ought to save you some dev time, particularly on a theme like that.
Good luck!
Hi Bill,
I don’t have huge amounts to share at the moment, but would be more than happy to write articles for the blog when it gets up and running.
The whole idea sounds fascinating!!
Charlie
This looks very interesting. I wonder what progress has been made almost a year later.
Just wondering if it can be seen by people in China? I’ve just found out that my blogspot site can’t be seen, along with facebook and others.
I have decided to let the mandarinmonday domain expire in the hope that someone else can make more use of it. The main reason for this is that I find myself pushed for time these days.
With regards to being accessible from China, I am pretty sure that all my sites are accessible from China. If your blog isn’t controversial then it shouldn’t be too hard. The main thing is to avoid some of the major blog providers; Google, wordpress.com, etc. Get in touch if you want help with this.
Mark, thanks for the suggestion. I actually used the 960 Grid System for the first time to put that together. It worked really well and is probably the only reason I was able to mock that up as fast as I did. Do you know how the BluePrint grid system compares?
It is all a bit of an experiment (and an excuse to combine tech with learning Mandarin). I’m glad you like the idea. Watch this space for further developments.
