Dublin seem strangely familiar

April 17, 2007

I arrived in Dublin this afternoon. It’s colder than the UK but other than that it feels strangely familiar. I haven’t been here for quite some time but I can still remember a fair ammount. I was able to find my way from the hotel to Trinity college without a map and even find a different route back. But the familiarity extends beyond just knowing how to get around. Thing’s look quite English. Either that or many English things look Irish. The people look similar, parks look the same, shops look and feel the same and even traffic lights are the same design. I was sat looking out of the coach window on the way from the airport and thought to myself, “I may as well be in England,” apart from one thing, the people are genuinely friendly and helpful.
